Bah!

Such hypocrites I tell you!
For the records, I have finally joined Cognizant and am officially a working woman! *taaliyan taaliyan*
So anyway, as I was saying, such hypocrites! Who? Well, here's who:
I am a straight girl, as in non lesbian (just stating a relevant fact, no revelations). So what do straight girls do? They look at guys; attractive guys most of the time. And that's what I did. I happened to spot one good looking guy in a batch of 270 and well, I used to look at him whenever he was around. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the dreamy 'oh-I-wish-you-were-mine' look; I know better than that! Yeah so well, what's so controversial about that? Don't guys ogle at girls almost ALL the time? Like, duh-huh! But when a girl does it, and it becomes slightly(ok, very :P) obvious, people have to create a big hullabaloo. Suddenly there are friends' of the guys inquiring about the girl as to, 'what kind of a person she is'. Ermm.. a normal heterosexual girl, thank you! Suddenly a whole bunch of the guys' batch mates gang up and act like goons when the girl is around, in an attempt to ridicule her. Suddenly the guy has on the spot bouts of extreme unnecessary attitude. Suddenly everyone in the batch thinks all the girl thinks about is the guy and everything the girl does is an attempt to get to talk to him. Hold it you buncha nincompoops! She's already bored of the guy!
Ok, so most of it is just either acts of unconditional immaturity or outcomes of lack of social evolution. But to question the intentions and may I say, integrity of a person just because she (I will not say, he because that circumstance never arises) found someone attractive? That's taking it too far. And why is that it is okay for a guy to check out girls but not vice versa? I don't get it! Such hypocrites I tell you!

I aint one, honey(A hypocrite,that is)...U can ogle at/flirt wid/whatever u wanna (:P) wid me 4 as long as u want though I might not fit de oh-so-good-looking types :\ But hey,dat wud make a good rehearsal session,wont it? ;P
On a serious note, dis has been pretty much de most debated topic I've been a part of...Been unfortunately associated wid a lotta such hypocrites who consider a girl some vulnerable creature who they can exploit if she gives 'em a lil' lead...MCPs galore in dis country n more so in de state u live in n which happens 2 b my hometown...How I wish I cud put an end 2 all such acts! I say dat at de risk of sounding like a feminist n I'm fine wid it...
Cuz hey,I'm a lover of womenfolk anyway!
I hereby raise a toast 2 de sacred feminine(n hope dat doesnt sound blasphemic)...3 cheers 2 womankind...hip hip hurray!!!
Now cheer up,sweetheart! There're exceptions 2 every rule! N I hope u find 1 to this pretty soon ;) :-D

I was always under de impression dat u were bisexual :D :P
Not even bi-curious now? C'mon,b a sport...Rule 377 wud protect u,dont worry! ;)

Divya,

Factual statement. Girls have the same rights to enjoy life as boys, so why this discrimination? But unfortunately God has made girls at receiving end for everything. Isn't it? And society takes it farther by ridiculing them if they wish to be independent like boys. Live your life as you wish to as long as your conscience permits. However little discreation is advised.

Take care

bird watching is not a crime!!! :) but hunting is!!! :P

Yeah sad state of affairs really. But to be fair to those "MCPs"( in Sikes' parlance ), it must have all been done in the usual good humour and no harm meant kind of tone( I have been a part of that "MCPs" group myself )

But just as one sparrow doesnt make a summer, this little incident shouldnt put you off from site adichifying and hate the entire mankind and go Sikes way branding everybody as MCPs. Keep site ing.

cherubic_chipmunk said...

@ Harish...With all due respects 2 u, I never 'went around branding everybody as MCPs' Read my comment n if u stl find it ambiguous or think it lacks clarity, contact me regarding the same...Meant to say that there're are a lotta male chauvinist swines(:S) here and it's universally acknowledged-attributing it 2 de fact that India is a patriarchal country...so no surprises there...
The point I'm trying to drive at here is that though everyone knows it's unjust when they ponder over it,they continue to do it when in groups...N v stl cal dis country progressive?! Bah indeed!!
N without knowing what happened wid Divya in entirety,it's presumptuous on ur part to take a call on de whole issue saying it would've been intended in good humour n all nice intentions...Bah squared!! I guess that's because u've been an MCP urself,as u very proudly proclaim! Now dont drag me into dis again lest I start sermonising...Chao!

Wow! here's another plastic who thinks the world revolves around her. Wake up!! You look at him, he looks at you.. i dont see where the hypocrite part creeps in. Oh yeah now i do... in that plastic head of yours!

Anonymous said...

Look, i feel its so natural that u get to have a feeling if someone is ogling at u..same way- do u feel that he is also watching you? do u see any kind of assumed characteristics from his side?
If not then u have not made ur ideas clear to him..Stop calling guys poops ..

Divya said...

tch tch tch... all those pish-posh wishy washy comments and you choose to remain anonymous??! what a waste! if you are a guy, you have reassured my loss of faith in the guy-kind :) and dearest whoever you are, read carefully before you jump the gun. your inability to understand what I have written needn't be blamed on my so called 'plastic head'. hypocrites- for the people who ogle at girls and still question their 'character' when it is the other way around. hypocrites- for the people who make normal, regular attraction(which, i must say is quite a strong word in this context) a big deal and act like, I repeat, 'nincompoops'. and as for me thinking the world revolves around myself, if i did, i wouldn't have admitted to have looked at a guy. so seriously, stop acting too smart, and when you do, own up to it.

duh! you know me! Office doesnt allow google! said...

psst, quick question..he didn't understand the post honey, who's got the plastic head now?? :)

-Siamese Twin *BIG grin*

Shrav said...

very very true :( I hate it when someone does it to a girl, it happens oh so often in college, not only for girls but also for guys!

Divya said...

@ siamese twin
for this and a zillion other reasons, i love you :)

Divya said...

@ shrav
mmm... i wont deny the fact that it happens to guys.. but then, how often? tell me more, I'm listening.

Meena said...

Divya,

You know what, when I read this, I was jus imagining the entire topic told by u in person. It is so damn realistic!! The fact is "men are hypocrats"!! I totally agree! I love reading such topics.. Ur writting attracted me very well.. Sooper cool! Go for it!

Mr. Rax said...

It's totally ok for a girl to ogle but the difference is that if a guy ogles n gets noticed, he feels proud n not disgusted by the fact that others noticed. A girl instead feels frustrated from inside and writes a whole long post on it!

:D

Leonardo said...

One second ma'am! Guys have integrity and standards too! We don't ogle at anyone and everyone! And we're sure as hell discreet about it! (Okay, we=people I hang out with)

Divya said...

@ scribblers inc:
oh those posts are quite a few months old. things are good again :)

Divya said...

@ sharad:
that, i must say, is quite a good way to put it. it perhaps is.
and thanks, domain is testing.

Divya said...

@ suresh uncle:
hahaha! you always have so much faith in all of us :) you're the best!

Divya said...

@ mr. rax:
good to know that you're alive. and ha. ha.
i'm not bothered about the fact that i got noticed. i wouldn't look at the guy oh-so-obviously if that mattered. my 'disgust' is about something else altogether.
sigh, and now, 2 months down, it doesn't matter much!

Divya said...

@ Leonardo:
oh i didn't mean guys have no stds and integrity. and i guess i shouldn't be generalizing either. apologies if that has been implied.

Wow! And I thought you were kidding throughout the blog...Nice blog,I could just see that smile behind those words...
